We are developing the suburb of the future in a Norwegian peninsula

Together with our friends at BOGL and Studio Ellefsen, we have been selected to do a parallel assignment regarding the development of Tangen, a town located in Nesodden Municipality outside of Oslo, Norway. As one of three teams we made the cut among 34 applicants, all of which, according to the municipality, delivered “good quality” proposals.

Tangen is located on the tip of the Nesodden-peninsula in the Oslofjord. Known for its diverse nature made of forest, mountain and beach, and only a 15-minute sail away from Oslo, the municipality of Nesodden and especially the main town Tangen, has become an attractive place to live and work.

To maintain sustainable growth, the municipality wants to draft a development plan setting the direction for a dense urban center with a great variety in housing, more educational- and cultural institutions and new opportunities for the business community. The parallel assignment will form the basis for the further planning work as a process tool as well as idea- and concept catalogue.

Community creation is one of the keywords in the plans for the development of Tangen, and ideas that address how to share existing and new square meters between public and private stakeholders is a hot topic on the municipality’s wish list. The goal is to foster a lively urban environment around the clock.

We look forward to embarking on this project and to provide politicians, citizens, investors and business owners of Nesodden with creative as well as feasible solutions.
