Find the publication: Biomaterials in Danish Construction

We are very excited and proud to finally present the publication: Veje til biobaseret byggeri – Et blik på tværs (Pathways to biobased construction – A whole system view).

Our 143-page interactive publication brings together the threads from a wide range of knowledge efforts, experts and industry players across the value chain from forestry and agriculture to production and construction.

Working on the project has been inherently interdisciplinary, fostered by a co-creative culture. As a microcosm of the broader dialogue needed across societal silos, it has embodied the conversations essential for a successful bio-based transition.

Five key actions

The project highlights five key actions necessary to achieve the bio-based transition ahead:

  1. Capture CO₂ from the atmosphere. The most effective and affordable method is through photosynthesis in ecosystems.
  2. Substitute fossil and mineral materials. Reduce reliance on virgin materials in construction by replacing them.
  3. Restore nature and biodiversity. Protect and regenerate ecosystems on land and in water.
  4. Recycle bio-based materials. Extend material lifespans through reuse and recycling.
  5. Prevent unsustainable resource markets. Avoid creating demand for materials that promote monocultures.
