JAJA at Klimafolkemødet: How do we integrate more biomaterials in Danish Construction?
What are the implications for Denmark’s land, the construction industry and your home if we start building with biomaterials? Can Danish agriculture be a direct contributor to our buildings, and how much responsibility do architects and engineers have to know the CO2 emissions and value chains of materials?
Join Nielsine and Kathrin at Klimafolkemødet, Middelfart 14.30, Purple Stage as they share insights from the project ‘Pathways to Biobased Construction’, the Realdania project where they, together with a larger group of experts, have investigated how new ways of building and living can become part of new value chains. They will be accompanied by economist and BLOXHUB Programme Manager Jacob Rask, who will give his input on the future prospects.
About the project
‘Pathways to bio-based construction) by Realdania is an investigation into the whole value chain of biogenic construction and the potential of Denmark to supply the materials locally. It sets out to identify barriers to scaling up the use of the materials in the building industry on a national level. This is a huge interdisciplinary effort involving research spanning from sustainable land use and farmland typologies to biogenic materials’ inherent qualities and applications in the construction of buildings.
Taking the inherent uncertainties into account we will establish a probable future where biogenic construction plays a much larger role. How would it look if Denmark started producing more biomass for the building industry? Which materials hold the greatest promise, and who would be poised to cultivate and refine them?
About Klimafolkemødet
Klimafolkemødet in Middelfart is an annual event that puts the climate at the top of the agenda over three days August 29-31. The event is the biggest arena for practical inspiration in the climate fight. This is where researchers present the latest knowledge, companies show the most effective examples, and this is where both young and old experience how we stand together and act both collectively and individually.
