WE WON THE ‘MINI CO2’ MULTI STOREY HOUSE COMPETITION

Together with our friends from ONV Arkitekter we won the competition for Realdania By & Byg’s sustainable five-storey wooden experimental building in Kanalbyen, Fredericia. We will do the project together with MOE who won the engineers’ competition – a collaboration we look very much forward to!

The overall goal of the demonstration projects is to support the construction industry’s reduction of CO2 emissions. The multi-storey housing building will be made as a “mono-material house” where wood is used in as many of the parts of the building as possible.

“We have formed a strong team with the best qualifications to solve the task: To create the most CO2-friendly wooden construction within a tight framework concerning budget, function and performance. Jørgen Søndermark, Architect and Project Leader, Realdania By & Byg

In early May, Realdania By & Byg announced a competition to develop a five-storey residential development, built of wood with the least possible CO2 emissions. 25 teams applied to participate in the decisive phase, which took place separately for resp. architects and engineers. Three architectural and three engineering firms competed in a short, intense method and strategy competition, and now the team has been announced.

The MiniCO2 multi-storey house is expected to be finished in 2023.
