Meet the JAJAs: Rasmus is our new Constructing Architect Assistant

Rasmus Jensen, Constructing Architect Assistant

We want to welcome Rasmus, our new constructing architect assistant! To get to know him better, we asked him a series of questions:

Where are you from, and how did you hear about JAJA?

I’m from Copenhagen, and I am currently studying architectural construction at KEA. I first heard about JAJA when I met Christian at an event promoting companies for future internships. We had a great conversation about sustainability in construction and JAJA’s work on the Mini-CO2 project.

How did you get into architecture/construction?

I’ve been in the construction industry for over 25 years, primarily as a carpenter. At some point, I felt the need to broaden my perspective on construction. Over the years, I’ve seen many poor decisions being made, and I strongly believe that things could be done smarter – especially through better design in the early stages of a project.

What project are you working on right now?

I’m currently working on Enghave Brygge Syd in Sydhavnen, designing a housing block primarily made of wood. We’re preparing to submit the project as an outline proposal.

When you’re not at JAJA – what do you like to do?

Since I stopped working as a carpenter, I don’t spend as much time outdoors as I used to, so I take every opportunity to get outside. Preferably in the woods, but really, anywhere will do. I’m also quite involved in my local community, working to promote more sustainable operations and maintenance. And since my body wasn’t too happy about the sudden change from physical labour to desk work, I’ve started training to keep myself moving.

What would be your go-to meal and movie on a Sunday?

I love spending time in the kitchen, so a nice slow-roasted leg of lamb with all the trimmings would be my ideal Sunday meal. And, of course, I’d watch The Lord of the Rings. Extended.
